We tried to cross #10 off our list:
Don a bathing suit and run through the fountains at Bicentennial Mall.
Bathing suits on, goggles ready, sunscreen applied, but our plans were sadly foiled.
We get there and there's no water anywhere. I'm driving around looking and looking for water. Where is the fountain? I'm thinking that I must have gone to the wrong place because maybe it doesn't actually look like a fountain. I think water just shoots up out of the ground so I ask a security guy...where's the fountains?
He says that we're in the right place, but there's no water. Not this year.
The fountains are still damaged from last year's flood.
So sad.

What do I do with these children? It's really, really hot.
They expected water. They wanted to get wet.
They are all decked out in "get wet" gear.

There are no pools, no spraygrounds, no fountains around.
I'm realzing my kids don't know how to stay cool without a pool.
I decided it was time for them to learn.
Next stop: Target.
Purchased: a $10 slip-n-slide and a package of water balloons
Voila: Old fashioned summer fun.
