We met a new friend, Danielle Peters, and her kids there while Ross and Eric Peters met that morning to write. We ran into them at church last week and re-connected. Eric and Ross go way back to the days when Ross was just starting out in music and Eric was in one of my all-time favorite groups, Ridgely, with Kevin Smith.
The library did not disappoint, even when we got there and realized that the puppet show had been replaced by Story Time. It is a beautiful building. Truly beautiful. I have never been in a library as beautiful as this one, except maybe in Washington D.C. When we walked in, the boys thought we were in a huge hotel. They kept saying, "This is the library?" The children's wing was a big as the entire library at home. They have a children's theater with a stage, a huge open space for sitting on the floor, and alcove seating all along the walls.
There is a big courtyard in the middle of the library next to the kids' wing with a fountain and lots of plants and tables wtih umbrellas for shade. Next time, I will bring snacks or a picnic with us.
Story Time was about gardens and was very fun with lots of singing, hand motions, and a great book. Afterwards we moved to the craft room that overlooked the courtyard to make lizards. The kids really loved the lizard craft especially since it involved glitter glue.
Big win for the library, even with the crazy downtown parking garage (and not realizing I could get my parking ticket validated until I'd already paid full price), it was worth it and we'll be back this week to see the puppet show.

Wow! So much fun. Your kids are going to think our library is so lame when they get back :) I love how God keeps validating your parking....He has your back sister!
