summer camp! in november??

Well, not exactly. But I found this old post that I never published and decided that even though it is November and the weather has grown delightfully chilly, it is completely fine to have one last taste of summer here. So, here's some warm, suncreen-wearing, popsicle-eating fun...

We were blessed to go to camp with Ross in June. My childhood friend, Summer (Peterson) McAuley is the interim children's minister for Northeast Bible Church. She invited Ross to lead the worship for their children's camp in Buda, TX. We had the best week. I was prepared for a nice week at camp with Ross. It turned out to be a refreshing, delightful week, and exceeded my expectations . It followed some of the busiest few weeks I'd had in a long time so it was such a nice, relaxing break. We got to know so many of the sweet kids and played alot with all the fun camp-y activities. I also really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time re-connecting with Summer and her husband, Zach.

Sam was the same age as the jr. campers. By the end of the week, he, Jude, and Naomi, had made friends with all of them. He was also excited to try all kinds of new things and was very brave, accessing his outdoorsy, boy, self. The camp was on a river and in the afternnoons, he and Jude would swim in the river with the other kids. He was brave enough to go on the rope swing off the very high platform and climb the face of one of the cliffs during rock-climbing. All 5 of us canoed on the river, although the kids fought over who got to paddle where. They also had a huge pool with a diving board and slide.

And while I'm at it, why not add a little more summer fun?

Later in June, we had fun filled weekend with the King family at a big family reunion at the lake. Ken, Michelle, and their boys were here for the weekend and the cousins a wonderful reunion. We all got to ride on the speed boats and the Mamba which was a big tube pulled behind the boat. The boys completely loved it.
